SkyFest 2009 Hosted by Raeford Parachute Center June 15th to 22ndSkyFest is very proud to announce that the historic Raeford Parachute Center in N. Carolina will host SkyFest June 15th-22nd 2009! Yes that's right, our lineup of events has increased so much already that we are going a full 8 days! When you read on you will see why within minutes of confirming the DZ we immediately had to add days to the event. Several families that have over 40 years apiece in the sport are celebrating SkyFest's 9th year and their milestones together. The number of celebrations alone creates an impressive list. Celebrations Taking Place so far...Gene Paul Thacker's 77th Birthday, 40th skydiving birthday, Raeford's 40th Anniversary, the Bachmans ParaGear pre 50th Anniversary (49th), Sherry Schrimsher's 45th with USPA, and J Schrimsher's 25th skydiving birthday and USPA membership! Bill Booth is also celebrating his 40th year in skydiving and Tony Uragallo has 39 years jumping and 30 in the USA. The list keeps growing so keep an eye on the site for more updates. That's not all of the families attending with history, Kirk Verner, Paul Fayard (yes we'll have a Casa'), the Thomas's of Sun Path Products will also be playing a large role in bringing this event of the Decade to you! We will be dedicating Monday the 15th and Tuesday the 16th to Free Seminars for the jumpers with raffle drawings for free skydives, and yes there will be Load Organizers available for those that prefer to jump. Wednesday evening we will be passing the microphone to our pioneers so they may share their incredible stories with us. This will be an evening you don’t want to miss!SkyFest is the original and only event that has donated over $24,000.00 to skydivers nationwide! SkyFest is not just an event for the new jumper, it has something for everyone! When SkyFest was conceived one of our goals was to structure it in such a way that we can take the event to other DZ's. Our thoughts are to allow more jumpers to be exposed to the unique atmosphere that only SkyFest can provide. If this means sharing our secrets with DZO's or other Event Organizers so they may improve their own events, so be it. We do not mind when folks run with what they learn from our event, if it continues to give back to the jumpers, the sport, or even improve profits for a DZ, then SkyFest has accomplished its goal. It only reinforces our slogan: "The Boogie that Pays it Skyward", what more could we ask for? |
